An experienced science journalist and a prize-winning writer, Diana Somerville has authored hundreds of articles published in the U.S. and abroad. She’s been a newspaper columnist in Boulder, Colorado, written and edited an acclaimed magazine for the University of Colorado, and currently writes a bi-weekly column on sustainability and the environment. Diana has taught science writing and magazine writing, given workshops on public relations for non-profit organizations, developed and co-taught an innovative women’s studies course for non-traditional students and offered classes on ritual, magic, mystery and the mythic structure of dreams.

Since her first book, Inside Out Down Under: Stories from a Spiritual Sabbatical (Beechworth Press, 2006), she has been offering seminars for those who want to create their own spiritual sabbaticals.

A versatile speaker as well as a teacher, she has lectured around the country and taught in Colorado, New Mexico, and Port Angeles, Washington where she now lives. She enjoys beachcombing along the Strait of Juan de Fuca, hiking in the Olympic mountains, savoring all aspects of food, adventuresome travel, improvisational dance, and writing about offbeat subjects.
